KATRÉ FASHION SHOW 2023

Katré Fashion Show 2023 brings to the stage half a century of mature creations and experiences.

On August 26, 2023, starting at 8 p.m., the Katré Fashion Show 2023 will take place in the newly renovated Põltsamaa Castle courtyard, during which the collections of the last 5 years will take to the stage along with the creations that have just come out of the needle. The models have their roots in many years, because Katre loves to sew clothes again. The show will be presented only once and is an overview of Katre Arula’s life’s work.

Katre Arula has been an ardent craftswoman since childhood. Her greatest role models are her mother and grandmother. She received her professional education in the early years of Estonia’s independence, both in Estonia and in Finland. Having spent her life sewing and recycling, she can be said to be a true master in her field.

Today, the Katré brand has grown into a small Estonian family up-cycling fashion brand. Fabric scraps and old clothes are repurposed into new and unique products – bags, clothes and accessories. All of Katre Arula’s creations are handmade – every stitch, every detail has received a master’s touch and you can be sure that they are made in Estonia by our own makers. The common feature of Katré products is the precision and time-consuming motifs made in original techniques, which are inspired by folk art. Glove patterns are made in a unique way as “pixel embroidery”, brooches and silver necklaces are molded from fabric, buttons and furniture felt, and exciting 3D garments are created with “felt roses”.

Katre Arula has received the awards Jõgeva County Cultural Pearl 2013, Estonian Folk Art and Crafts Association Heritage Keeper 2017, and Craft Entrepreneur 2020. In 2020, the audience of the Estonian Fashion Festival chose Katre’s collection “Black Stork” as their favorite.

KATRÉ MOESHOW 2023 will feature 6 collections, of which approximately 80 completely unique and unrepeatable sets will be presented. The models are made with a good sense of style and a little flair. Each collection has its own story. The longest story is the dress, which began in 2003. The musical design of the performance is the Estonian folk music ensemble DUO RUUT.
